Har Tzvi: Vayeishev Print E-mail

ParshaThe 21st of Kislev is the Yahrtzeit of Rav Tzvi Pesach Frank, rav of Yerushalayim (1873-1961). He was born in Lithuania and was a student of Rav Eliezer Gordon and Rav Shmuel Salant, his main work is a set of responsa known as Har Tzvi. He also authored Mikraei Kodesh. He was the father-in-law of Rav Menachem Ben-Tzion Sacks, the Menachem Tzion.

“And they hated him more.” It seems to me that even their hatred of Joseph was measured. They calculated whether he deserved to be hated, and even considered before increasing that hatred.

It is worthwhile for us, who simply hate, and do not understand that even negative feelings must be measured and calculated, to learn that even if we feel that someone is evil and has earned our enmity, we must respond in a calculated and careful measure. (Har Tzvi-Vayeishev)
